Happy New Year 2012!!

My dearest readers!

Today is the last day of 2011. Every day of this passing year was filled with a myriad of experiences: fantastic, dramatic, cherished, extravagant, happy, emotional, vivid, sad, astonishing, impressive, inspirational, and the list goes on. I have seen this year through an individually-tailored patchwork of events, paired with assortment of the new places, new faces and new possibilities. The hard work on this blog has brought crops of success, hope and achievement.
So, this is my opportunity to express my appreciation of you all. I thank all of you for stopping by, reading my posts, commenting and praising my work. I'm incredibly lucky to have the support of my family and friends, and all of you.
I'm looking forward to a New Year full of joy, happiness and success, and I believe it's going to be a phenomenal year for DC2NYConfessions.

DC2NYConfessions wishes you a Very Happy New Year 2012!
Enjoy your night, and cheers, everyone!

Glitz and Glamour for the New Year

Good evening, my fashionistas!

Have you picked your outfit for tomorrow's night yet? New Year's Eve is the biggest party of the year, so my imagination suggests my dress should be glamorous and glitzy.
While searching for my perfect outfit for tomorrow, I found some incredible designers input into those shiny looks, and I thought they would be perfect for the occasion.
These are just some ideas for the fabulous night of the year! I'm just curious, would you wear any of these looks to your party?

P.S. Hurry up ladies, clocks are ticking fast, and there's less than 24 hours left til New Year! Let us all ring it in with glamour!

Christmas, Elves and Trains

Good evening, loves!
As you might notice, the last couple of weeks I've been dedicating a series of posts to holidays, that special season we all have been anticipating. Today I'm continuing covering holiday inspired events in the city.
So, gifts have been unwrapped, dinner tables cleaned and now is a perfect time for some outside inspiration. Sunny but crispy cool day was perfect for a trip. So, here's what I did on the day after Christmas.
The United States Botanic Garden in Washington is one of the oldest botanic gardens in North America. The Garden informs visitors about the importance and fundamental value of plants, and highlights the diversity of plants worldwide, as well as their aesthetic, cultural, economic, therapeutic and ecological significance.
This holiday season the famous Garden Railway Exhibit features eight model trains and imaginative buildings created with twigs, leaves and anything else plant-related. This year’s exhibit challenges you to find out “Who Lives Here?”. Dwellings vary from Presidential homes to magical fairy condos and many you’ve never before seen or imagined.

White House Christmas

Good afternoon, loves!
Merry Christmas to you all!
Today is that special holiday we all have been waiting for. And I'm honored to celebrate it with you, my dearest readers and wish you a wonderful time with your loved ones.
Since I always considered DC my first home, I'll share my fascination with the White House Christmas, and particularly, their commemorative ornaments dedicated to Presidents, events and people in the America's most important home. The tradition of festive celebration started over 50 years ago by the John F.Kennedy administration and has become a locally praised event of the year. The White House edition Christmas ornaments have been produced for 31 years and quickly became household collectible items.
All 31 White House Christmas Ornaments

The 2011 White House Christmas ornament honors the administration of Theodore Roosevelt, the twenty-sixth president of the United States. This year's ornament reflects the excitement that President Roosevelt, his wife Edith, and their lively young family brought to life at the White House. The front face of the ornament is a color illustration derived from a political cartoon drawn by William A. Rogers in 1901. Capturing the anticipation associated with the family's first White House Christmas, a jolly Santa Claus crosses the snow covered North Lawn carrying a large bag of toys over his shoulder and announces, "I hear that there are some kids in the White House this year."

I've been particularly attracted (and started collecting!) ornaments from the 2000s decade, as they impressed me with intricate details of golden metal, unusual shapes and colorful presentation. This year my Christmas tree already boasts some of these treasures...

Rodarte in Museum.

Good evening, my fashionistas!
Holidays are quickly approaching, but the world of capital-F Fashion never stops spinning, surprising us every day with newest, hottest, latest...
For years now I've been tremendously obsessed with Rodarte brand, as their innovation in textiles and modernism in silhouettes stirred my deepest creative emotions and inspired into birth of my own clothing pieces.
I just found out (and thought I should immediately share it with you all :)) Rodarte is showing their Fra Angelico Collection  in Los Angeles LACMA museum, "featuring a group of extraordinary gowns. The collection is inspired by Italian art, specifically the Renaissance frescoes in the monastery of San Marco by Fra Angelico in Florence, Italy, as well as the Baroque sculpture. Rodarte’s signature dressmaking techniques and sculptural details can be seen in each of the gowns. They are customized utilizing a variety of materials such as feathers, SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, sequins, and custom-made silk flowers. Hand-forged gold metallic accessories such as a headpiece, breastplate, and belts dramatically complete the look of several key gowns."

Bloomingdale's Accessory Chic Gift Guide

Bloomingdale's Accessory Chic Gift Guide

***
Good evening, loves!
Christmas rush has officially begun this week, as shoppers are in the last-minute gift purchasing mode! Today while running errands and last-minute shopping myself, I spotted unbelievable lines all around!!
I guess my recent obsession with collages is taking over my active blogging time...but so far I'm having fun with it and hope you have fun watching my creations. Remember my recent post about Blogger's Night Out DC? While at the event,  I spotted a contest urging all interested bloggers to contribute their creations of Bloomingdale's holiday gift guides. Of course, while snapping photos of the beautiful store I got inspired by the amazing accessories worn by the mannequins. Therefore, my Accessory Chic collage is here, featuring all kinds of goodies from Bloomingdale's for a true fashionista.
I hope you like my unconventional approach to gift guide, and hope you're having a fun shopping week.
