Fabric Project No.7 "Flying Kite"

Happy Tuesday, friends!
I hope you all are enjoying summertime. #fabricproject No.7 is here!
The other day I was outdoors on a steamy sunny day. I looked up, and the blue sky was so joyous without clouds, so mysteriously endless. Light breeze was swifting by. Then I looked down, and saw kids playing with colorful kites, their tails waving in the wind... I was inspired!
I remember seeing S/S 2012 collection of 3.1 Phillip Lim and I thought his "kite" inspiration was so genius. While sorting out my studio fabric, I found sand linen and green sheer cloths and I know they've been sitting inside a dusty closet for a while without a particular purpose. I immediately knew how to put them to good use! I thought I would tweak the idea and create a shift dress.. We'll see in a few days how it will come out!

Sunday Designer Review. Dion Lee

Hello and welcome to the anticipated monthly Sunday Designer Review Post.
I recently discovered this Australian designer through one of the shopping sites and was pleased with his innovative approach and attention to detail.
Resort 2013 particularly made a positive impression, with its athletic vibe and modernistic shapes.
Since Lee grew up in a country surrounded by ocean, his inspiration was probably drawn from there, or sports associated with water. Incorporating swimwear textiles like Lycra and laser-cut prints combined with intricate details made this collection a prized treasure among editors and buyers.

Vintage Jewelry Haul

I recently made a trip to a flee market.
Usually, I'm not into vintage stuff, but it was quite an experience! My curiosity was sparked when I came across 1950s "Time" magazines, with all those funny ads and photo journalism. I was particularly attracted to household goods, like rare vinyl records and cast iron pots hanging on the wall. Surely, I felt like I flew several decades back in time.
Finally, I arrived at the vintage jewelry counter, and for a moment my sight got so overwhelmed with all the trinkets behind the glass counter. I couldn't focus, so I had to circle around at least three times before I could process everything. Finally, a few pieces were unique enough to try. I was even more intrigued to buy them so ridiculously cheap. A few dollars later, I scored 1 pair of lion earrings, a necklace and 2 pins. I'm glad to share my finds with you.
Have you ever been to flee market?
How was your experience?

Look of the Day. Oceanic Stripe

Happy Monday, friends!
I hope your weekend was filled with positive events as much as it was for me.
After the hectic week of running races and sewing (every stitch closer to that dream result), I was rewarded with a boat trip.
I sported my #fabricproject No.6 "Oceanic Stripe" accessorizing it with rope-detail belt and handmade anchor necklace. I was ready to go sailing!
Saturday  was one of those "perfect weather" days, not too humid not too hot.
The dusk was approaching quickly and the sun winked at us with its orange disk. We walked on rustic bridge to reach our yacht and the sun-drenched shore was warm and inviting. It was time to ride and observe the western sunset.

Fabric Project No.6 "Oceanic Stripe"

Good evening, friends!
As my hectic week approaches its end like sun reaching its horizon at dusk, I'm greeting you with my next #FabricProject.
This weekend I'm going boating, so I imagined this dress flapping in the winds of deep seas, hence the name "Oceanic Stripe". I always compare my projects and outfits to nature phenomena, especially vibrant colors and textures. I know you've seen a similar pattern before from the "Sunset Stripe" project, so when I was hauling fabric, I saw two similar striped jerseys, yet so different in color. I thought, "I will turn these materials in two distinct outfits!".
As a big fan of Milly New York design studio, I drew inspiration from her strapless textured dress that looks so effortless yet chic. Obviously, the $395 price tag made my eyes roll in anticipation of my own creation (for much less).

Look of the Day. "Flower Power"

Hi, friends!
Happy Monday!
Last weekend was pretty busy between finishing my Fabric project, gardening and visiting flee markets. The "Flower Power" skirt was one of the easiest fabric projects I've done in a while. It took me just under 3 hours to make it, in my made-to-measure home studio. The fabric behaved well, and was easy enough to handle. I love working with cotton, period!
It was a gorgeous sun-beamed breezy day as we shot the outfit, and my mood was brightened by the "powerful" floral motif. And I paired my colorful outfit with a perfect accessory, my own DIY Neon Cuff Bracelet.

"Flower Power" Fabric Project in Progress

Hey friends!
Remember the Fabric Project No.5?
When I woke up today, the day didn't look too promising or productive as the dark rainy clouds gathered outside my window. My mood wasn't to inspired until I entered my studio. I gazed at the bright cotton fabric I recently purchased, and I thought: "Let "Flower Power" take charge", and my thoughts were carried away to imaginary tropical flowering gardens. I started measuring, cutting and sewing with vigorous zeal. My gloomy mood was washed away with first rain drops on the glass window. I became inspired again.
Meanwhile, I snapped a couple of preview shots, and I can't wait to wear my new skirt this weekend.
Stay tuned for the Look of the Day post.
